The coffee machine in the breakroom still remembers when we were a company of builders.

I walked past the empty cubicles in Building B today and realized we’ve stopped saying “hello” to the ghosts. It’s just the sound of Jira tickets pinging like a death knell now. We used to be about the “Connected Construction” vision—the hardware, the field-to-office workflow, the pride in precision. Now, it’s just “do more with less.” My calendar is a bruised grid of back-to-back syncs, trying to cover the scope of three people who were let go in the last sweep. The institutional knowledge didn’t just leave; it evaporated, and now I’m drowning in technical debt that no one left has the bandwidth to fix. The culture that made us feel like engineers instead of resource-units is gone. I miss the era when leadership understood that building a portfolio isn't the same as building a legacy. Now, we’re just grinding down the gears until the machine stops. I’m tired of being the only one left to answer for a system I can no longer keep upright.
